Referrals are not required but prior records are needed, such as recent treatments and reports that are pertinent to your situation such as MRI's, prior pain management doctor reports and procedures and a list of current medications for example. After your information is obtained, our staff will look it over to determine if we feel we can help you or not.
What to expect from ECPS - We are a comprehensive interventional pain management service. Our goal is to reduce or eliminate your pain and your medication requirements and to get you back to work or whatever you want to do. We will form a "plan of attack" to both determine your exact pain issues and also how to resolve them. We want to make you feel better and get you back to living again. We will spend time answering your questions and making sure that you understand your diagnosis and your treatment options. We offer sedation for those who cannot tolerate procedures and we will try to progress quickly through the treatment process.
What we expect of you - We require patients to follow our treatment regimen so that we can help them improve. We are very strict with controlled medication usage and patients on controlled substances will be regularly drug tested as per Florida Law and they must utilize the medication as directed. All patients sign an exclusive narcotic contract that states they will only obtain pain medication from ECPS. Exceptions are made for patients who only wish to utilize us for procedures and get their medications elsewhere since they have a narcotic agreement with another doctor or for medications that we don't prescribe such as psychological medications for anxiety disorders or ADDH or for patients who have surgery whilst being our patient and have approval to obtain postop pain medications prior to surgery.
We require that your new patient packet be completed prior to scheduling you as a new patient. The reason for this is that we block an entire hour for your new patient consultation and by requiring the new patient forms prior to scheduling an appointment, this reduces wasted time slots. New patients who fail to show up at their initial consultation will not be re-scheduled. If you have or are currently seeing another pain management physician, we will require his office notes prior to scheduling you. Only local Florida residents that are nearby (within a hour of our offices) will be scheduled for new appointments. An exception is made for people in southern Alabama near the state line since ouroffice are within that hour's distance.
We do not overbook patients in an attempt to avoid you waiting excessively. Thus, time is alloted for your appointment and to keep costs down, we expect a 72 hour notice of cancellation of an appointment or you may be charged a $100 cancellation fee for office visits and $200 for procedures.
What we are not - We are not a "pill mill". If you are only interested in obtaining pain medications and not pain management procedures or possible surgery for your pain issues then we are NOT the physicians for you. If you seek only medications then please save both of us time and look for a "pain clinic" that simply charges cash. We do not accept cash paying patients, period.
